Races of Coelath

Following are the allowable races for this campaign, as well as sub-races. Any changes for sub-races are notated.


Human are now the most common race on Coelath. All three kingdoms on the continent are lead by humans.

Subraces: There are no sub-races for humans

While roaming bands of wild Elves used to roam the wilderness of Coelath, they have all but disappeared in recent years.

- Grey Elves – Taller and grander in physical appearance than others of their race, gray elves have a reputation for being aloof and arrogant (even by elven standards). They have either silver hair and amber eyes or pale golden hair and violet eyes. They prefer clothing of white, silver, yellow, or gold, with cloaks of deep blue or purple.

- High Elves – The high elf is the most common elf variety. High elves average 5 feet tall and typically weigh just over 100 pounds. They live on fruits and grains, though they occasionally hunt for fresh meat. High elves prefer colorful clothes, usually with a green-and-gray cloak that blends well with the colors of the forest.

- Aquatic Elves – Also called sea elves, these creatures are waterbreathing cousins to land-dwelling elves.

Fleet Foot Your base speed increases to 35

- Elf-Orc – Elf Orcs often are taller than humans, around 5 to 6 feet tall, with pointed ears and green tinted skin. They maintain the natural beauty of Elves but tend to be more muscular due to their Orcish heritage. Occasionally, they grow tusks. Elf Orcs have hair colorations that range through white, black, dark green, and dark orange. They have no facial hair and little body hair.
Ability Score Increase: Dex +1, Str +1
Age: Elf Orc mature quickly due to their Orc heritage, usually at the age of 14. Their Elven heritage however increases their life spans, and they have been know to live up to the age of 120.
Size: Elf Orcs range from under 5 to over 7 feet tall and have muscular builds. Your size is Medium.
Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision Both your Elven and Orcish heritage help you see in the dark. You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Fey Ancestry You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
Trance Elf Orc’s do not need to sleep.Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Menacing You are proficient in the Intimidation skill.
Languages Elven, Orc and Common

Dwarves make their home in the harsh and mountainous North, but many travel South to make their living or seek out adventure.

Hill Dwarves
Hill Dwarves (sometimes called Mud Dwarves) left the safety of caves generations in the past, now living in villages or traveling the land in search of adventure.
Ability Score Increase +1 Wis
Dwarven Toughness Your hit point maximum increases by 1 every time you gain a level

Mountain Dwarves
Mountain Dwarves live deeper under the mountains than hill dwarves but generally not as far underground as deep dwarves. They average about 4-1/2 feet tall and have lighter skin and hair than hill dwarves, but the same general appearance.
Ability Score Increase +1 Str
Dwarven Armor Training You have proficiency with light and medium armor

Deep Dwarves
These dwarves live far underground and tend to be more standoffish with non-dwarves.
Deep dwarves are the same height as other dwarves, but leaner. Their skin sometimes has a reddish tinge, and their large eyes lack the brightness of those of their kindred, being a washed-out blue. Their hair color ranges from bright red to straw blond. They have little contact with surface dwellers, relying on hill dwarves or mountain dwarves to trade goods for them.

Invisibility Deep Dwarves gain +3 to stealth if they are in at least a shadowed area

Living their lives in the shadows, Halflings survive by avoiding notice in a world full of danger. They make their living on the edges of society, they are looked upon with suspicion but can be a handy ally when forming adventuring parties.

Lightfoot Halflings
Lightfoot Halflings are commonly found among other races in urban areas. They are friendly, and can often be found working in Inns or Taverns.
Ability Score Increase +1 Cha
Naturally Stealthy You can attempt to hide even when you are obscured only by a creature one size larger than you.

Stout Halflings
Stout Halflings make their living adventuring, exploring abandoned ruins and making their fortune. Some say they have Dwarf blood coursing in their veins.
Ability Score Increase +1 Con
Stout Reliance You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and have resistance against poison

Full of joy and creativity, Gnomes make their homes wherever they can use their natural inclination towards creation to improve the lives of those around them.

Forest Gnomes
Focused more on magic than engineering, Forest Gnomes make their homes in hidden communities. They are suspicious of outsiders, but friendly with other woodland creatures.
Ability Score Increase +1 Dex
Natural Illusionist You know the minor illusion cantrip. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for it.
Speak with Small Beasts Through sounds and gestures, you can communicate simple ideas with small or smaller beasts.

Rock Gnomes
Rock Gnomes are heartier than most other Gnomes, using their inventiveness to explore and adventure.
Ability Score Increase +1 Con
Artificer’s Lore Whenever you make an intelligence (history) check related to magic items, alchemical objects, and technological objects, you can add twice your proficiency bonus.
Tinker You have proficiency with artisan’s tools. Using those tools can you can spend 1 hour and 10gp worth of materials to construct a Tiny clockwork device.

Walking in two worlds, but belonging to neither, Half-Elves make their living in a society that never truly accepts them. With traits from both parents, they represent both the best and worst of Elves and Humans.

Looked up with fear and hatred by most civilized races, Half-Orcs often find work as adventurers and spend their time in the wilderness, away from those that are suspicious of them.
